Editorial standards

Sources stay visible. Limits stay clear.

See how Paperkeep selects topics, uses sources, handles AI-assisted drafting, sets safety limits, and corrects published guides.

Paperkeep exists to help readers make safer first decisions about personal collections. The editorial standard is practical usefulness supported by traceable preservation guidance, not publication volume or a fixed article length.

Topic selection

Topics must lead to a distinct reader decision, such as whether to isolate a musty book, remove a photograph from an album, flatten a folded record, or move a collection out of a basement. Minor keyword variations do not justify separate pages.

Source standards

Priority is given to national libraries and archives, government conservation institutes, professional conservation organizations, standards bodies, and direct technical guidance. Commercial product claims and unsourced summaries are not treated as evidence.

A source remains on a guide only when it supports a workflow, risk boundary, storage choice, or treatment caution on that page.

Drafting and publication

AI-assisted tools may help organize research notes, prepare early drafts, compare site overlap, and check page consistency. They are not used as factual sources. The final page must state a direct answer, identify material-dependent exceptions, preserve safety boundaries, and link to the evidence used.

Safety-sensitive guidance

Advice involving mold, contaminated water, wet photographs, solvents, adhesives, heat, pressure, pests, or unknown materials is written conservatively. When a safe answer depends on identifying the object or testing it directly, the guide stops at stabilization and referral rather than presenting a household treatment.

Corrections and updates

Articles are updated when a source changes, a material claim needs qualification, or clearer safety guidance becomes available. Dates are changed only for a real publication or substantive revision. Report an issue at [email protected] with the page address and supporting detail.
